David fleeing from Saul; this psalm refers to the enemy's schemes; Ps 61-63 refer to trials, but emphasise God's faithfulness.
v1-2: The blameless man suffers attacks from men; he needs God's protection as men seek to destroy him. The "noisy crowd of evildoers" is open about their plans to kill him.
v3-4: There is deceit, bitterness, and malice. Such are the attitudes of those whose hearts are set against God.
v5: Ignorant of personal accountability; there are no secrets from God.
v6: Their scheming words and evil actions reflect a corrupt heart and mind.
v7-9: God will judge them; that judgment will stand as a warning to others. The words of judgment reflect their own plans (v3-4), as their schemes are turned upon their heads.
v10: The righteous have their confidence in God.
