Final encouragement to praise the Lord. Ps 148 emphasised creation, Ps 149 His people, and this Psalm calls everything to join in praising God.

v1: Praise to God, from the private place of the sanctuary, to the widest and highest heavens, throughout all creation.

v2: Praise Him for His works and His person; both He and His works are beyond comparison.

v3-5: Music especially is part of praise; the whole 'orchestra' unite in praising God. David was particularly responsible for introducing and extending the use of music in praise.

v6: The joyful duty of all people and all creatures to praise God.
