All creation joined in praising God. He commanded and they were created (Ps 33.6, 9); these things fulfil His word (v8).
v1-6: The heavens testify to God the Lord. Creation is distinct from God, for it is the work of His fingers. Creation itself is not to be worshipped. The psalmist goes beyond the visible into the highest heavens, where angels and heavenly hosts praise God. The decree of God, by which these things are made, and also setting boundaries for them, so that there is an order in creation which reflects the character of God.
v7-12: The earth and all its creatures join in praising God; the climate and weather, the earth itself, animals and people. Likewise, we praise the Lord by obeying Him, by doing His bidding.
v13: God alone is worthy of praise; we do not worship created things.
v14: The privilege of Israel, a people near to Him, brought near by His grace and love.
