Bible Notes Online - 1-Chronicles 20 - ESV
Commentary

v1-3: See 2 Sam 11; David stayed at home while others risked their lives. At this time, David fell into the sin of adultery. David's crown depended on the sacrifice of others. We could say that he gained a crown, but lost a kingdom, since the kingdom was never again so secure.

Chronicles does not refer to David's sin here. The emphasis is on the worship of God, so there is much about the ark, the musicians, the preparations for the temple. Such things must continue, even though one or another of God's people falls into sin.

v4-8: Victory against other giants. Victory is always possible, however great the opposition.

Sibbechai is mentioned in 11.29
