Bible Notes Online - 1-Chronicles 14 - ESV
Commentary

v1-2: David was now able to make arrangements for his palace to be built, having been established as king.

v3-7: David took more wives also. This was not a good example to others. Solomon also had many wives, whom he loved, and who turned his heart from the Lord.

v8-17: The Philistines attacked "in full force" against the new king. They had apparently not attacked Israel for several years, perhaps since Saul's death. In both attacks recorded, David sought the mind of the Lord God (v10, 14).

Where the Philistines' idols were left, David had them destroyed, so that his people would not use them for worship.

David’s fame spread beyond the borders of Israel and Philistia.
